Cow In Cambodia
Thursday, May 26, 2016
A young Asian boy is standing on top of a brown cow on the shore of the Mekong River in Kratie, Cambodia. Kratie is the home of the world famous but nearly extinct Irrawaddy dolphin, the only surviving fresh water dolphin in the world that inhabits the Mekong river 10 miles north of this point.
Korb Thouen feeds her cow in a field where she has just harvested her rice in Thnort Rorleung, a village in the Kampot region of Cambodia. She has used organic fertilizer to improve her soil fertility and increase her harvest.
The former French colonies of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos are known collectively as Indochina. The mighty coffee-coloured Mekong River carves its course through these countries to connect Thailand and the cultural and geographic values of the region as a whole.
Chariya is the Agriculture Coordinator that helped to pull the calf from the his mother because his mother doesn’t strength to deliver the her calf so the calf stay in his mother stomach too long. The calf can not breath well so after Ya pull the calf, he put his fingers in to the calf mouth and blow the breath into his mouth then the calf start to survive. The family is so happy that we could help to deliver the calf while we visit the village to follow the project.

I really happy when I received this bull because I prayed for almost one year about this cow bank project then I heard that we will receive the cow. I’m so thankful that God is good and answered my prayer. Through the bull that I received, my familyreally blessed because we’ve been serving the bull to the cows for 10 cows and we get some income for our family. Because I feed my bull well, he produce a lot of dung that I can use for rice farming and crops. ‘I really thanks the sponsor that bless my community with this cow project because the people in my community are handicap and it’s hard for them to farming and take all the root off from their land so cow really help them a lot.’

I really happy when I receive this cow because if depend on my living situation we couldn’t ever afford to buy this cow. Through this cow dung, it help my crops to grow better and cut down my expense to buy the cow dung to put in my farming land every year. I have expectation my cow in the future it will produce the calves and with the calves I can do a lot of things like plowing the soil and I can sell them for my grand children school need and for my children wedding. ‘I really thank you so much for the sponsor that give my family an opportunity to have this cow. May God bless you to have strength and prosperity.’

First when I live in this village with my daughter I don’t know what to do to make my living income because I’m a widow. Then one day I heard that I will receive one cow I felt really excited and I hope for my family. I really thanks God since I got this cow I always happy love my cow and I expect that my cow will give the calve soon. I don’t know when did my cow get pregnancy and I really worry about her then today 1st July 2010 my cow delivered the calve. I have hope for my family in the future that through this cow can help my family prosper because I don’t have farming land to do rice farming.
